Fall Harvest Orchard is must-visit for the season

With three anxious kids in tow I was the first visitor of the 2010 season.  Curt Peterson, Owner of Fall Harvest Orchard, greeted me personally along with three interested turkeys and two cats.   Don't be fooled by their name - Fall Harvest Orchard is a working farm, and if you don't live on a farm visiting here is your chance to feel like you do!  This is no petting zoo - kids can feed the goats, hold the baby chicks, and be followed by the chickens wandering the farm.  But the highlights for us each visit are taking a hayride around the fields to learn about the different crops (Farmer Mike will let you pick some things to bring home), and jumping in any of the three huge corn bins.  We are also getting quite good at playing tetherball.  Of course you can pick your own apples or pumpkins when they are ready, or purchase apples, pumpkins, squash, gourds and brown eggs or other goodies from the store.  The Grill is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm and serves brats, hotdogs, and chicken breast or shredded pork sandwiches.

What started out as a self-serve fruit and produce stand at the side of the road in the 1990's has blossomed into a seasonal business that attracts thousands of visitors each year.  Ready to visit?  They are located a few miles west of Delano at 345 County Road 30, Montrose, MN, 55363.  Visit the Fall Harvest Orchard website, follow Fall Harvest Orchard on Facebook, or call them at 763-972-3894.
